This isn’t just the start of a new year, its also the ending of a decade. How we start 2020 could significantly impact how we end the decade and how the next decade plays out for us. Scrap the old-fashioned new year resolutions! It’s not enough to start the year feeling enthused, energized and empowered by the great prospects ahead. It’s highly important to understand how to keep that momentum going through the year and the years ahead.
Here are 5 sure-fire ways to help you fully maximize your potentials and enjoy focus, freedom and fulfillment in the year and next decade:
1. SIMPLICITY
Simplify your life to eliminate confusion. Don’t over complicate even the simple things like your daily actions and decisions. You must develop a set of processes and procedures for your life that can be easily repeated over and over. These are called programs and patterns that frame our thoughts and decision-making and provide direction. Direction always guides decisions. We’re in a constantly and rapidly changing world that seems to inundate us with information, ideas and way too many options. In the face of several options, people with a simplified process of doing life are often less confused and more progressive than others. A simple way to simplify your life is by using routines for daily recurrent tasks, checklists for activities and other tools like templates, lists, assessment sheets, etc.
2. STRUCTURE
Your life deserves a framework upon which your choices are built. Establish structure for your life by clearly defining your 3 Ps (Purpose, Principles and Priorities). Stand for something or fall for anything. The major reason many people feel unfulfilled and under pressure is because they haven’t articulated their life’s 3 Ps. Purpose, principles aka values and priorities are the foundations upon which you build a meaningful life. Over the past 4 years, I have mastered the art of defining my life’s 3 Ps by crafting my mission, vision, values and purpose statements. This practice provides a level of clarity and confidence nothing else can. Try it!
3. SYSTEM
Orison Swett Marden (1848–1924), an American inspirational author who wrote about achieving success in life and founded SUCCESS magazine in 1897 said “A good system shortens the road to the goal”.
After eliminating confusion and establishing structure, you need to set goals and map out your action plans for the years and the decade. To do this effectively, you need a productivity system. A productivity system is a system that helps you effectively manage your resources (especially time) in order to achieve your desired outcomes. There are several productivity systems out there to explore but ensure that the system you choose is one that can help you process, plan and practice the right goals, habits and activities. I have created a tested, proven and recommended productivity System called the LIFE HARMONY SYSTEM by JessylsCharm. I have used this system in coaching many clients over the years and I would be launching it soon to the public. STAY TUNED!
4. SUSTAINABILITY
You must understand that your resources are limited and must be utilized in a sustainable manner. In my years of coaching people of diverse culture, I’ve come to the realization that at the core of the human need for success and significance, people just want a lifestyle that’s easy to maintain. In our striving for success and significance, if we don’t imbibe a sustainable approach to life, we often lose out in grave ways. An example is a person who disregards their health for work accomplishments only to realize after some years that they can no longer work effectively because they need to treat a serious health issue. A sustainable lifestyle is one that is planned and paced not rushed and reckless. It’s a lifestyle of long-term, not short-term thinking. Think sustainability on a daily, monthly, yearly and lifetime basis. Your resources are limited even those that are easily within reach. A resource as easily accessible as your willpower depletes overtime and must be utilized sustainably. The LIFE HARMONY SYSTEM by JessylsCharm (coming soon!) can help you develop a sustainable lifestyle.
5. SUFFICIENCY
Sufficiency is a state of being, not a state of having; it’s a state of mind, not a state of affairs. The sufficiency and sustainability states of being overlap as the former means being enough while the later entails sustaining the former. Once you can get yourself to constantly think that everything you need, you already have, you set yourself up for gratitude which stimulates growth. Some people call it the abundance mindset. This doesn’t encourage staying stuck in your comfort zone but allows you to enjoy your life’s journey every step of the way. The sufficiency state of mind helps you become more self aware, plan your life better, attempt daunting goals and achieve greater results. In the past year, I practiced the sufficiency state of mind and it helped me experience growth in many ways. Please understand that growth isn’t always linear and that external measures aren’t always a true reflection of success. Sometimes we grow deeper and wider than higher. Last year, I experienced more of deeper and wider growth. I laid the foundation for bigger and better things in my business and personal life and I’m excitedly looking forward to what’s ahead. The Sufficiency State of Mind (SSM) has helped me become more committed to Meaning, Growth, Mastery and Impact. I encourage you to embrace it in 2020. The results might amaze you.
As you get ready to make this year your most productive year yet, I encourage you to apply the right strategies and systems to help you fully maximize your potentials. The LIFE HARMONY SYSTEM will help you apply the 5 strategies above. Learn more about #thelifeharmony here
